Here is the latest:
We (meaning the team doing the serial casting, our p.t, and Jeff and I) decided to hold off on the 4th and final cast for Cam's foot. We were seeing great results and with the last measurement taken, he was at a +5. (He has gone from a -13 degrees to a +5). We consider this an amazing accomplishment and are so glad the casting has helped. However, we did not reach our goal which was anywhere between +10 and +15. When we took his cast off last week, Cam's ankle looked very week and the sore on the back of his heel was still there. He didn't complain once of it hurting, but the casting p.t. didn't want to chance making it worse. Also, you can "over cast" someone which can cause all sorts of other foot and muscle problems. So, we all agreed to give him time to strengthen and gain function again and possibly recast him in the future. Our p.t. also feels that with the brace he is wearing, it too should be doing a lot of stretching in his calf and if we are consistent, we may be able to reach the range we need in order for him have a normal gait pattern.
Cam is THRILLED to be out of the cast! Not so thrilled to be back in a brace, but this is how it goes. His p.t.'s are doing everything in their power to keep Cam entertained with new activities. Because he is there 4 times a week, that is challenging! Cam's favorite so far is going to the nearby High School and running around the track and the up and down the bleachers. We of course have to chase him, as a 4 year old would not just start running 400's on their own. LOL! Good workout for us too!

Glad to hear. That would be great to get the +15 using the brace. Praying for you guys.
