Stretching and Exercise

Camden continues to impress us. He is completely walking independently and even tries to run here and there. Sometimes he over does it and may tweak something in his back to cause a reminder that he still isn't 100%, but he is doing so well!

We unfortunately have several hard months ahead of us still. Stretching and gaining strength is super important. We have a booklet of about 15 stretches he has to do twice a day and he is going to physical therapy 4 times a week. Camden can walk with his heel striking the ground now without his brace (the spasticity is now gone), but his heel chord and calf muscles are tighter and shorter because of the 4 years of spasticity. He will have to get a series of casts on his foot to slowly stretch these out so he can bend his foot up and down properly. He also will be strengthening these muscles and has to re-teach them how to be used to help walk normally. He still reverts to toe walking at times because he is so used to it.  Anyhow, we just keep taking it one day at a time and pray that all of his/our hard work will pay off:) We have high hopes!
